My trip to InsureMyTrip.com, an under-the-radar powerhouse in Warwick

Last week, the RIEDC featured IMT Services, creators of the popular travel insurance site InsureMyTrip.com, in its monthly Innovator Spotlight.

InsureMyTrip.com offers users a one-stop shop to buy travel insurance for their vacation or for business trips. Users are able to compare more than 100 travel insurance plans from 22 insurance companies with real-time quotes. "Consumers have a choice as to how they can compare and purchase important trip protection information," says Vikki Corliss, Public Relations Director for IMT Services. "Our user-friendly site quickly provides the best available rates, benefits and coverage options available from the top U.S. insurance providers."

[CEO Jim] Grace calls his website the "Orbitz of travel insurance." Designed and programmed in-house, the website enables users to analyze, compare and purchase travel insurance packages — from multi-coverage package polices to medical and cancellation policies. In addition to its first-class business and web-savvy teams, IMT Services also employs a "customer care team" available to offer personal customer assistance by phone, email and live online chats seven days a week.

Recently, Stuart Freiman and I had the pleasure of visiting IMT in Warwick. I knew something about IMT from talking to their Director of Technology, Kerri Lemoie, at Providence Geeks dinners. However, our casual conversations hadn't prepared me for the visit.

The front portion of the IMT's T.F. Green-adjacent building is nondescript, even kind of worn. Then without so much as a "check this out," they usher you into the "new part" - high-tech offices buzzing with the positive energy of the company's growing team. The fact that IMT is taking the travel insurance industry by storm is palatable.

IMT's customer command center - yes, the team fittingly faces a giant screen with real-time information pumped in from around the world.

What a cool article! I really enjoyed learning more about this company and the pictures are great, too. I know Kerri from way back in the days of Amazon.com: she's wicked smart as they say. Glad to see the company is doing so well!
