SUMMARY:Providence Entrepreneur June Meetup - Morning
DESCRIPTION:The May morning meetup focused on SEO basics and was a fairly technical discussion\, although most members were able to get some good information\, judging from feedback. June&#39\;s meetup will be more focused on business\, particularly a discussion on how each of us is dealing with tough times\, and what we are doing to get through it. Most members who have participated in previous roundtables of this nature take away at least 3 money-saving ideas that they put to use within a week or two.Customer retention\, service delivery\, and other ways that each of us is using to get through these fun times will be a large focus of the discussion. We&#39\;ll also present a couple of case studies\, courtesy of American Express\, our meetup sponsor\, who did a recent roundtable similar to our June meetup.Come\, bring your ideas\, questions\, and enthusiam! We look forward to seeing you there.
http\://rinexus.com/calendar/5550/providence-entrepreneur-june-meetup-morning

SUMMARY:Introduction to Social Media - Web 2.0 - Blogging (Part I of II)
DESCRIPTION:The use of web 2.0 technology - also called &#39\;social media&#39\; - is transforming commerce\, politics and society. But many people still have questions\: what exactly does &#39\;web 2.0&#39\; mean?where did this phenomenon come from?why does this matter to me and my organization or business?how do I move forward? Blogs\, Wikipedia\, Facebook\, Twitter\, Second Life and even eBay are all part of the same wave of innovation that lets individuals cluster around topics of interest - no matter where in the world they are. These clusters often generate better information faster than corporate sources or the mainstream media. As a result\, corporate and organizational interests must play catch-up with an evolving phenomenon that is\, frankly\, very foreign to their culture. Some have adapted well. Others\, not so much. Why? This workshop demystifies both the technology and the phenomenon with simple explanations in down-to-earth language. Then small and large group discussions help you work through the issues and internalize what you&#39\;ve learned. No special knowledge is necessary. This workshop serves as the prerequisite to later hands-on sessions in the New Horizons computer lab.
http\://rinexus.com/calendar/5543/introduction-social-media-web-2-0-blogging-part-i-ii

SUMMARY:Pd club\: 1st meeting!
DESCRIPTION:Come down to AS220 Labs and join the Pd club for it&#39\;s first meeting! Pd (Pure Data) is a graphical programming language and open source project with a large and growing user base. Pd is widely used by artists to create interactive computer music and multimedia works\, and to some extent is interoperable with its commercial cousin Max/MSP. The club is open to all\, from beginners to experts. Artists\, students\, teachers\, programmers\, hobbyists\, and the \\"just-curious\\" are welcome. The only requirements are that you like a challenge and have a laptop. On the agenda for the first meeting will be an introduction to Pd by Shawn Greenlee. Shawn will cover the basics of patching\, working with sound\, and handling communication with Arduino boards and MIDI devices. Before the meeting adjourns\, we&#39\;ll get beginners up and running and determine the summer schedule for meetings.
http\://rinexus.com/calendar/5806/pd-club-1st-meeting
