Free & Open Source Software: Lots of Bang for No Bucks
How much do you spend on software and software upgrades on an annual basis? Are they all worthwhile purchases? Wouldn’t it be great if you could do your work, not worry about software license violations, and not have to pay for all of the software you’re using? You may be able to significantly reduce your IT software budget by investigating free and Open Source software.
There is a significant number of software applications that are available to anyone without cost. These applications perform a wide variety of functions, from e-mail to desktop publishing to graphics editing and more. Some are free and easily accessible, some come with a new computer, some are from the Open Source community and are available to anyone.
At a time when nobody wants to spend money they don't have to spend, it’s worth investigating these options before investing in sometimes-pricey commercial software applications. Come learn about some of your options, and experience some of them for yourself.
