The Rhode Island IDSA Chapter announced today the screening of the film Objectified by Gary Hustwit. The IDSA Rhode Island Chapter is the leading group in the state, representing product designers of all types.
Objectified is a film about Industrial Design. This documentary is about our complex relationship with manufactured objects and, by extension, the people who design them. It’s a look at the creativity at work behind everything from toothbrushes to tech gadgets. It’s about the designers who re-examine, re-evaluate and re-invent our manufactured environment on a daily basis. It’s about personal expression, identity, consumerism, and sustainability. The film documents the creative processes of some of the world’s most influential product designers, and looks at how the things they make impact our lives. What can we learn about who we are, and who we want to be, from the objects with which we surround ourselves? The Screening is free for IDSA members. $10 for students/recent graduates, + AIGA (the professional association for graphic design), CNU (Congress for the New Urbanism), and AIA (The American Institute of Architects) Members. In both cases, obtain tickets by calling Trinity Rep at (401) 351-4242 or visiting the box office to reserve a seat as space is limited. Normal tickets can be purchased for $20 at http://good.ly/tejf8
