There is no more pressing issue that the state of Rhode Island faces today than creating jobs and supporting struggling businesses. No matter what positive signs they’re seeing in the rest of America, Rhode Island is still in the middle of the worst of this recession. Our Number One priority must be creating, retaining, and training for jobs and providing the tools and support necessary to keep local businesses in business.

This event is intended to provide a wide array of resources for jobseekers and small businesses, including resume review, job training and educational programs, financial and technical advice for small businesses, and programs for workforce enhancement, among many other resources.

This event is free to the public and is a 100% working event. For jobseekers, there will be workshops on writing a winning resume, expunging or sealing records, and job training programs. For small businesses, there will be workshops on accessing tax credits and capital and training incumbent or new workers, to name a few.

Organizations and programs that will be represented at this event include First Source, NetworkRI, JobsNOW Providence, and the City of Providence; the SBA, PEDP, RI EDC, RI SBDC, and RICIE; the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Center for Women & Enterprise, the Providence Foundation and the RI Indian Council. Banks and financial services companies will be represented, as well as companies such as Isis Biopolymer, Alteris, InQuest Technologies, Runa, and Nabym Salem, and there will be full representation from area colleges and universities. Many other worker, business, and social support organizations will be represented as well.
