Providence Geeks Dinner featuring 38 Studios and the "Geeks for Good" Food Drive!
Providence Geeks is closing out 2010, with a bang. Our December Geek Dinner features the first public presentation by soon-to-be-Providence-based interactive entertainment company – 38 Studios.
In one of the most talked-about local events in 2010, the company founded by world-champion baseball player Curt Schilling, closed a $75 million bond offering and announced its relocation to Rhode Island. Join CEO Jen MacLean and Studio General Manager Gavian Whishaw as they discuss the company’s games and strategy, approach to complex project development, and plans for how the new studio can support the knowledge economy in Rhode Island.
Note: Baseball fans, Curt will only be present in spirit, not body.
As always, for first-timers here are the details on the Geek Dinners:
- The event itself is FREE! Beverages and food are for sale at AS220’s bar and new restaurant.
- It’s totally casual. Wear whatever, bring whoever, arrive and take off whenever! And don’t worry about eating or not – come famished or full – eating is optional, and frankly, the least of the festivities (that’s not say the food isn’t good – it’s actually great)
- Topics of conversation will vary as they will at any gathering of geeks, but many of us will be talking about AJAX, mash-ups, start-ups, new devices, innovative business models, interaction design, social computing, digital art, web services, etc. etc. etc.
- There is Wi-Fi so bring your connected device of choice.
