Compatible2U.com (dubbed C2U), a Rhode Island social network website, is challenging traditional sites by focusing on real-life networks and relationships. Initiated in June 2008 by Olga Enger, an IT consultant from Newport, C2U has quickly grown to thousands of local members.  Olga's goal is to develop an online network that steps beyond the virtual environment, and enables friendships through member organized events.

Local businesses also benefit from C2U events, especially in the down economy.   Unlike traditional 'event calendars', members go to C2U events to meet new friends or hang out with friends they have met at past events.   Relationships with local businesses are far more beneficial than promotional campaigns or advertising, as it provides a lean way of bringing in business and new customers.

Since June the group has coordinated events such as golf, BBQs, indoor rock climbing, fishing excursions, holiday celebrations, kayaking, clubbing/pub crawls, karaoke nights, volleyball and a book club.
