A marketplace for life-saving ideas and tools for mothers & newborns
Three very basic questions guide our work. First, what are the effective, low-cost tools (both those in development and those on the market) that can save the lives of mothers and newborns in low-resource settings? Second, given the tools that exist, what are the priorities for new ideas? And third, where are the facilities located that can provide skilled care to women?
Three goals core to our mission derive from these three questions:
• connect professionals
• track innovations
• map maternal health facilities
Frontline health workers need information, tools, skills and connection to peers to maximize their scarce resources and to be empowered to save women. In response to this crisis we are building a platform for innovation in global maternal and neonatal health that is tailored to the needs of frontline workers. We aim to be a 'go to' site on connections, technologies, techniques and ideas for global maternal health. The audience is frontline health workers and all of the organizations, policymakers and individuals who support these workers.
Thousands of professionals from medicine, public health, design, and business are stepping into the field to work. New groups including industrial designers, entrepreneurs, engineers and scientists are increasingly interested in the power of simple innovations to change lives.
We seek to build on these seismic changes and to amplify their effect for women and their families around the world.
