Submitted on September 25th, 2007 - 11:52am linkyes! it's on the plan - hopefully the next 10 days or so. the thinking is to make a shared sidebar of both most recent forum posts and general comments (blog comments, etc). how's that sound? thanks.

Submitted on October 3rd, 2007 - 5:12pm linkI don't plan on going to RINexus each day (I don't do this for any site) and so I need to be notified when something happens to something I care about. For example, when a posting is made to a forum that I have posted to send me an IM (if I am on) otherwise send me an email.

Submitted on October 5th, 2007 - 11:18am linkAndrew, sounds like RSS is in the works. Would that be a solution that works for you?
Although, you bring up a good point that RSS will throw each item one by one at you. A weekly (or so) email "digest" of Nexus activity would be nice for those that either don't use RSS or don't want the constant updates.
I'd say RSS would be the higher priority but the digest email would be nice for those people RSS does not serve.

Submitted on November 19th, 2007 - 6:10pm linkIt would be great if the Marketplace had a way for people to post their availability as contractors. If we limited the length of such postings, they could be a good resource for scanning locally available talent in the high-tech community. A contractor could post a short blurb, with a link to his or her web site. If postings were automatically deleted after a month, we could prevent clutter, such as information about contractors who are no longer available. See my own profile for an example of the kind of information that a contractor could post in 50 words or less.

Submitted on November 20th, 2007 - 12:21pm linkHi Richard. Thanks for the feedback. This is on our (long) list of improvements. If you or anyone else has other ideas for it, please let us know.
Thanks!
Jack
P.S. At the end of the 30 days would the post be deleted or just "unpublished" such that the publisher coudl return to the site and easily re-post?

Submitted on November 20th, 2007 - 2:41pm linkHi Jack,
Making the posting "unpublished" after 30 days, with the option to repost, would be fine with me.
P.S. Has the feature of being able to post your actual name instead of your usual name in forums been withdrawn? Or is it not working for this forum?

Submitted on November 21st, 2007 - 5:08am linkUnless I'm not remembering correctly, I don't think we ever were displaying "actual names" within forums (or for that matter anywhere else other than on user profiles and listings of user profiles). That's not to say we couldn't/shouldn't be though.
I'm assuming you'd like this to be the case?
We could add this change to the list although actual names tend to be longer and clunkier than screen names so there would be some formatting issues.
I'd be interested to hear if others are in support of this change.

Submitted on November 21st, 2007 - 11:07am linkYou're right. The box I check-marked when editing my profile ensures only that my actual name will appear in the profile itself. What confused me was that many people use log-in names very similar to their actual names, so I was assuming that the feature was implemented as an option in forums.
I would definitely like to see actual names in forum postings. A person's actual name instead of (not in addition to) the login name would be much more useful and friendly.
