Who's going to DL it? I'm interested to hear first reactions.

I plan on it. I'm interested in a few features, specifically the ability to launch a tab as its own "app" without nav, etc.

I will be. I read the "comic" on it earlier today.

Seems to be the real deal. I'm especially excited about each tab being treated as it's own system process.

It's available for download now:

So I've been using it for a couple hours. It's impressively fast. Fastest browser I've seen. Especially its Javascript implementation - very fast. I can already see the benefits of separate processes for each tab/win. One thing that's bugging me is that when you begin to type an address in the location bar and you see the location recommendation right below where you're typing, you can't just hit tab to auto-complete. Firefox will do that for you. I think they need to take the same path there.

Sounds promising. I'm still trying to get PBN's outsourced tech guys to put it on my PC here ... what I wouldn't do for admin privileges.

Installed it day one, but sadly have had to revert back on occasion bc not all web based applications let me log in/ operate consistently on Chrome. Anyone else having these issues?

Amber, I'm not having log-in issues, but I am missing my Firefox extensions enough to have not yet adopted Chrome as my primary browser. I really hope I can though - there are a lot of things about it (starting with speed) that I love.

I read the comic and played with Chrome for a bit. I love all the new ideas it brings to the browser market, and it seems wicked fast.

I hope Google gets the Mac version out in the next few months. But even if they do, I can't see myself switching to it on my work machine. I'm too locked into Firefox's Web Developer Toolbar's secret sauce. Here's hoping for a Chrome equivalent once the extensions API goes live.

I've been using Chrome for my primary browser for 13 weeks now, and love it.

Drawbacks:  Not every site, nor every app supports it (whatever happened to web standards?), some of the 'Web 2.0' sites in partcular.

Speed-wise, it's blazingly fast, and seems to have much less overhead than the others.  Reminds me a lot of Opera back in the pre version 3 days....

The design is simple, and takes some getting used to, but hasn't been a showstopper for me....

I still use IE for some applications that don't play well with Chrome, but otherwise it's all Chrome for me!

Jim, I agree about Chrome. I can't wait for Google to finishing porting it to the Mac. Also, I read the other day that Chrome will be coming to Android as well. Between Chrome, Android, and Gears, I think Google is well positioned to make big inroads into the client-side software stack in the coming years.

I think that the Mac/Linux flavours of Chrome will speed its adoption.  It's a bit surprising that they don't at least have the Mac flavour up and running, as it's based on the Safari rendering engine, but, what the hey.

Not only Chrome, Android and Gears, but Google's current services are pretty amazing.  Even something as simple as Google reader is a Godsend....I spend an hour a night rolling thru a zillion newsfeeds and blogs that I'd never have time to go through without it!   Can't wait to see what else they (and the whole Web 2.0/grid/cloud/whatever thing) have in store for the world next.  It's an exciting time!
