Embolden Design president named R.I.'s 'Small Business Person Of Year'

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Five small business owners and four small business advocates are among the 2009 Rhode Island small business award winners announced recently by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Four of the nine local winners also have been selected to receive regional awards.

Ann-Marie Harrington, president of Embolden Design, is the Rhode Island Small Business Person of the Year. Harrington founded the Pawtucket-based business 11 years ago.

Today, Embolden is one of the fastest-growing Web development and technology consulting firms in New England. The company's clients primarily include community foundations and non-profit organizations.

Harrington is now being considered for the National Small Business Person of the Year Award, which will be announced in Washington, D.C. Harrington and other award winners will be honored at an awards luncheon on June 10 in Cranston.
