So, I'm starting to put my presentation together and I'd love to see this speaker list filled up a bit more. An event like this is a great way to polish your presentation chops (or actually see if you do indeed have some presentation chops). I'm planning to take full advantage.

Who else is in? I see a few familiar names on the Presentations page. There's room for a few more, and I'd love to see some of the smart folks I've met over the past few months at Geeks and other Nexus events take part.

I still can't decide what to do......?

I was taking a look at the presentation schedule, and saw that there was interest in having a mobile blogging session.

David Berebe (sp?) of Swift Blue in Pawtucket is doing some really cool mobile stuff with his Mofuse product.

Maybe he'd be interested in doing a session?

Okay, I decided. I'm doing a bootstrap-type basic things to think about before you start designing or building.

I'd be up for speaking, but I have no idea what to do. I could use some guidance/suggestions, particularly in picking topics that are NewB friendly. Here are some random ideas (anyone who wants to use these topics themselves, feel free):

  • HOWTO upload video to YouTube and BlipTV
  • All about Tagging
  • HOWTO create and post to a new blog

Hello all!  I wanted to chime in with a session on speed mentoring - inspired by http://mplayground.blogspot.com/2008/01/speed-mentoring.html and Bryan Person's idea of applying it to social media http://www.bryper.com/2008/01/24/liven-up-your-events-social-media-speed-mentoring/ .

Brian, how about doing a survey of the pros and cons of the local data networks and plans to the RI community? e.g. Verizon's network vs. T-Mobile's vs. Cingular, etc. You seem to know that stuff cold, and it's sure helpful when one is trying to choose.

Thanks, Jack. There doesn't seem to be a track that's a good fit. But considering there's interest in a mobile blogging talk, perhaps  NewBCamp should add a track for that? I could probably do a few short talks on mobile stuff:

  • choosing a wireless data plan for total mobility
  • blogging/tweeting/flickring/streaming on the go
  • which mobile device for computing on the go?

I have built into NewBCamp a lot of flexibility - it is an unconference after all. The tracks are to provide a "box" so people can feel comfortable knowing what they're going there for. Your presentation sounds like it does fit in the blogging track, but you can think out of the box. I won't mind, and I don't think anyone else will either.

Thanks, Sara. I think it will cram into the box just fine without damaging it!

Even if you're not doing it, Brian, I think a session on tagging would be great for a conference like this. It can be completely foreign to the NewBs.... but very powerful.

If there are any other tagging experts out there... please consider participating!

Jack, you were close, it's Berube. :)

saras_nex: I'd be interested in participating in the mobile space if you need people from the area, I'm the founder of MoFuse as Jack had previously mentioned.

Get in touch with me.

I have moved my course out of the Web Design area and into the Marketing area, where it fits a little better. This opens up one of the slots for Web.
