XO Laptop meetup in RI?

Did anyone else pick up an XO laptop through the G1G1 program or otherwise? Since the coolest thing about these laptops is how they talk to each other and let folks collaborate, Tom Hoffman and I were talking about organizing an XO laptop meetup.

Post a reply to this topic if you picked one up. And if you haven't, what are you waiting for? You've got until December 31 to order it. It's a good deal, actually: for $400, a child gets a laptop (awesome!), you get a laptop (woohoo!), a $200 tax deduction (sweet), and one year of T-Mobile hotspot (Wi-Fi access in Starbucks, Borders, PVD airport, and many other places).

I do not have one, though not for lack of wanting :(. They seem very cool. If anyone picked one up but doesn't have the time for meeting up, I offer myself up as an emissary. Your laptop + my laptop using skillz = vicarious delight!

Brian, whatever you all schedule, please share the details with us less fortunate, non-owners of the XO (we can put it on the calendar if you like). I suspect some of us, would love to even see these little marvels in action.

And for those not in the know, yes, the XO is another name for the $100 Laptop.

I have an XO - would love to meet up. I'll be escaping from Boston to attend, so might need a little flexibility in timing is all.

I just posted the inaugural Open Coffee for next Wed 8AM (oops, corrected) at 729 Hope Cafe in Providence. You are welcome to converge there, if you'd like, huddle around a table, and XO to your hearts content...

BTW, There are still a lot of G1G1 participants who haven't received theirs yet, so we'll need have another meetup before too long since there may still be Rhode Islanders waiting for theirs.

Hello, I'm new to this forum. I'm from MASS, but would heppily travel to RI.

Did this meetup happen? Is there any summary about it? How about plans for the next one?
