good internet provides in Providence

smagdali

Hi,

my UK-based company is opening an office in Providence next month. We need to get steady, reliable internet provision in our office, preferably ADSL2+ with static IP.

I've been looking at Verizon's offerings, but I was wondering

a) does anyone know if their Fiber-optic package is available in Providence?

b) Who are the alternative providers?

c) Does anyone have any recommendations/experiences to share.

Hey - if you can swing the cost - we have been really happy with Towerstream's WIMAX service at OfficeLAB...  Have never had downtime and never had less than the 8mbps up and download speeds we signed on for... usually are up around 10mbps both ways.

Welcome to PVD ! The Cox Cable folks can serve you static IP and a 6/2 service on a residential account, and more on a business account. They are investing a bunch in their fiber infrastructure in PVD as well.

Verizon has deployed FIOS throughout many PVD neighborhoods.

Look forward to seeing you at an Open Coffee.

I've hd issues w/Cox before switching to Verizon. We're running 20/5 w/static and paying a tad less than w/Cox.

OTOH- as Wayne points out, Towerstream, if you can afford the $500+ is ultra reliable, incredibly responsive, and can quickly provide you w/addl statics, and depending on your plan , at no charge.  We have them in place for a couple of clients.

For our needs, VZ FioS more than fits the bill, and the price is right -about $140/mo including taxes and bs charges....
