The Broadband Program Coordinator will provide administrative support in planning, organizing and implementing the Broadband Rhode Island program.  This includes setting up public meetings, events, conducting surveys and gathering data, program marketing, writing and managing website content. In addition the incumbent will schedule meetings, maintain contact files, coordinate correspondence and prepare agendas, collateral packages and documents.

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the incumbent will write the basic content and actively maintain the broadband program website broadband.ri.gov as well as social media communications. The broadband program will be marketed to Rhode Island municipalities, businesses, residents and community anchor institutions.  The incumbent will interface with program partners including subcontractors, and other personnel located at the Rhode Island Department of Information Technology, Rhode Island Statewide Planning (State GIS Coordinator), University of Rhode Island Environmental Data Center, educational institutions, and the telecommunications industry.

Minimum Qualifications

The qualified candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree in business management or related field with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in project management, marketing or communications in the public or private sectors or a Master’s Degree in any of the above with a minimum of one (1) year experience.

Well-developed oral and written communication skills as well as some familiarity with the Internet/broadband industry. Ability to work independently with minimal guidance from the Program Manager on assigned projects and daily responsibilities. The candidate must have skills to exercise professionalism, innovation and discretion in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships within the organization and external groups. Proficiency in Microsoft programs required as well as experience and good judgment in social media networking.

This position is funded by a federal grant from the National Telecommunications and Information Agency (NTIA) through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009
