Description
Dominion Diagnostics is looking for an experienced database administrator. The ideal candidate must be adept in multiple technologies and have a passion for continuous improvement of their skills as well as the software products themselves. Must be able to work and learn new skills independently, as well as to execute projects in a collaborative setting.
This is a full time position for an individual with Oracle 10G or DB2 LUW experience in a Linux/Unix environment. Our database environment primarily consists of Oracle 10gR2 and DB2 LUW 9.1.4 running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Additionally, our environment includes MySQL 5.2 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux as well as MS SQL Server 2000 and 2008 so our ideal candidate will be comfortable working with multiple database vendors.
The candidate will work closely with our Lead DBA to assist in the maintenance of the Oracle and DB2 database instances. The candidate must be able to create and modify bash scripts, understand database concepts like tablespaces, storage allocations, indexes, reorgs, performance tuning SQL, database server monitoring.
The successful candidate must want to learn DB2 or Oracle (depending on prior experience).
Additionally, some production applications use MySQL and SQL Server and, as such, the batch scripts for these databases will be maintained and modified as required. Additional responsibilities may include vendor application administration as required.
Requirements:
- 3+ years professional experience working as a production DBA (DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, mySQL)
- Intermediate to expert SQL skills
- Experience working with a OS scripting language (Linux shell, perl, or Windows Command scripting)
- Experienced in ETL (extract, transform, load) operations
- Working knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems
- Effective communication skills
Strongly Desired:
- Working knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL or DB2 SQL/PL
- Data modeling experience
