The senior web architect will be responsible for the strategic planning, architecture, and development of technical aspects of web projects. The role will be primarily systems analysis and design, however the candidate should be able to jump in and assist with coding where needed. Candidate must be highly skilled in high level architecture/technology specification and requirements gathering. Candidate should have strong client facing skills and be able to work closely with project managers to create proposals, statements of work, timelines and schedules of deliverables. Candidate should also be able to perform unit testing and code reviews.

Duties Include:

o Meeting with clients in conjunction with project managers and information architects to gain an understanding of the client’s business and needs

o Researching and recommending technological solutions to business problems

o Understanding user-workflow and user-experience expectations in regards to functional aspects of project

o Developing and writing technical/requirement specifications

o Devising technology solutions that balance user goals and business goals while fitting within the constraints of time, budget, and technology

o Creating data models, user models, user experience diagrams, application process flow diagrams, user interaction models, and application architecture specifications.

o Working closely with Project Manager and Information Architect to determine timelines and budgets for projects.

o Directing developers in the implementation of applications.

o Coordinating in-house and outsourced development teams.

o Performing code reviews and unit testing to ensure that applications are built to meet standards and requirements.

Experience/Skill Requirements

o 5+ years experience in application development

o Basic understanding of networking and comfort with Windows and Linux/Unix environments.

o Strong understanding of web application development principles and best practices

o Proficiency in at least one of the following a big plus: ASP.NET 2.0 with C#, Java/JSP

o Ability to create SQL databases, understanding the theory, building, querying, managing, optimization, stored procedures, data transformation, reporting and advanced data modeling

o Proven experience and ability to act as a technical lead on projects and provide technical solutions and recommendations that will best fit the problem

o Creative problem solving abilities

o Familiar with various code versioning and recovery strategies

o Ability to work with interface designers and clients to develop a user level interaction model

o Excellent written, verbal and diagrammatic communication skills.

o Familiarity with unit testing and issue tracking strategies and tools.
