Job Description

The VP of Engineering / Product Development / CTO is responsible for the strategic and tactical aspects of the Shape Up The Nation health social-networking platform. This person will provide the leadership and management necessary to ensure that the company has the proper resources to continue to develop a world class product. As a core member of the senior management team this role is critical to the growth and development of Shape Up The Nation. 

Primary Responsibilities 

•         Develop, review and maintain product roadmap with CEO, founders and VP of Engineering 
•          Solicit and manage product development ideas from staff and customers 
•          Answer high-level technology questions for potential clients during the sales process 
•          Oversee final code review and testing process 
•          Develop relationships with third-party content and service providers 
•          Product development budget responsibility 
•          Set goals with VP of Engineering and review progress regularly 
•          Set goals for programming and web design staff and review regularly 
•          Build and develop product development team 
•          Oversee security assessment and testing with VP of Engineering

The candidate must:

•          Be able to evaluate product development decisions that affect multiple business units 
•          Be able to lead a team and communicate a road map and vision across an organization 
•          Have a passion for improving the health and lives of others 
•          Adapt to a quickly changing and fast-paced environment  

Qualifications 

•          Web programming (Ruby, Python, or PHP) and database development (MySQL) experience 
•          Intuitive understanding of user interface design and web user needs 
•          Proven track record of defining, developing and implementing effective development plans 
•          Proven ability to effectively allocate resources, with budget and time constraint
