Description
The FIRST LEGO League is looking for technical mentors to spend a few hours helping teams improve their robot design, programming and strategy at two "FLL Tune Up" events. The events are November 14 in East Providence from 9 AM - 1 PM, and December 19 in Bristol from 8 AM to Noon. We're looking for people with an understanding of engineering, design, and/or programming to watch the teams' robots in action, ask questions and advise teams who want to improve their robot's performance. A knowledge of LEGO Robotics is helpful but not necessary.
The FIRST LEGO League is a robotics competition for kids aged 9-14. Over 500 students from around the state participate on teams that design, build and program perform tasks on a competition table. The season culminates with a State Championship Tournament on January 9, 2010 at Roger Williams University.
The FLL Tune-Ups are one time events requiring 3-5 hours of your time; this is not a long term mentoring commitment. College and high school students who participated in either the FIRST Robotics or the FIRST Tech Challenge are welcome and I'd be happy to document their hours of community service if need be.
