Chafee proposes $6.25M limit on individual loan guarantees for EDC fund

Gubernatorial candidate Lincoln Chafee, a vocal critic of the state’s $75 million loan guarantee promised to Curt Schilling’s video game company, has now set his sights on the loan-guaranty fund used to finalize the deal.

Chafee, an independent, on Wednesday released a plan that he said would use the $125 million fund to “maximize job creation while limiting taxpayer risk” by establishing a national business-plan competition, encouraging startups and small businesses to participate and limiting guarantee amounts to $6.25 million, among other things.
