Former Channel 10 news director gets full-time job at URI

Former WJAR-TV news director Betty-Jo Cugini has landed at the University of Rhode Island's marketing and communications department as the new-media supervisor.

Cugini was among a dozen staffers Channel 10 laid off in March 2009, after she had spent 22 years with the NBC affiliate and become the station's first female news director. She began working as a video and new-media consultant for URI a year later.
