KVH 2Q profit plummets, sees similar 3Q

Broadband, sensor, and guidance and stabilization systems manufacturer KVH Industries Inc. saw its second-quarter profit plummet to $190,000 from $5.32 million in the same 2010 period.

“We believe it is prudent to view the leisure markets more conservatively, as our visibility for sales into these markets has become less clear. As a result, we expect our top and bottom lines for the third quarter of 2011 will be similar to our second-quarter results,” said Patrick Spratt, KVH chief financial officer, estimating revenue of $29 million to $31 million and earnings per share of 2 cents to 7 cents.
