NEIT a player in video gaming

The New England Institute of Technology’s newly opened $100 million East Greenwich campus positions the college to become a bigger player in the education of workers in a growing field the state has a clear investment in – video game design and development.

David “DJ” Johnson, an instructor in video game development at NEIT, said one reason his students are interested in developing or designing video games is because of the attention given in recent months to 38 Studios LLC, former Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling’s enterprise that opened at One Empire Plaza in downtown Providence in April. The firm, given a controversial $75 million state loan guarantee, intends to create 450 jobs by 2013.
