Verizon faces competitive market, COX biggest rival - new objective: "to lose less"

For the fourth year in a row, Verizon reports losses in highly competitive RI market

Despite expense trimming, Verizon still losing money and customers to wireless, cable alternatives.

Rhode Island’s local telephone market is, by far, the most competitive in the country, according to a report released in January by the Federal Communications Commission.
