NIH grants QualityMetric $2M for asthma tools

Proprietary analytical methodologies to measure health of people with asthma

QualityMetric Inc., a Lincoln, R.I., developer of information-technology products to measure patients' health, reports it has been awarded a multimillion-dollar grant from the federal government.

The National Institutes of Health has awarded the firm a $2 million Small Business Innovation Research grant to develop tools to measure the health of people with asthma, the company said. The firm will collaborate on the project with a health-plan provider Kaiser Permanente's center for health research and the Southern California Permanente Medical Project.
