Bay Computer Associates working on toys for rehabilitation with Hasbro, RISD, and Brown

Toys and Technologies for Rehabilitation is a collaborative project that plans to develop several toys within the year for children with limited movements typically due to stroke, accident or congential conditions

Toys and Technologies for Rehabilitation grew out of student projects in a combined RISD-Brown course. Prototypes are being tested at Hasbro and the Meeting Street school in Providence.

Afferent and Bay Computer Associates are developing technology that will be embedded in the toys, enabling therapists and researchers to track the child's amount of play and record the benefits...

Last year, Toys and Technologies for Rehabilitation was awarded nearly $200,000 through a state Research Alliance grant. That money will be used to develop the toys into marketable products.
