Six Rhode Island companies have been approved for a tax break aimed at encouraging investment in high technology industries...

...The credit is intended to attract and retain serial entrepreneurs and stimulate growth in high-wage, high-growth industries, according to the RIEDC.

Rhode Island companies approved for the credit are:

• Bionica Corp., Providence. Bionica commercializes technologies for the hearing impaired;
• Lighthouse Security Group LLC, Lincoln. Lighthouse Security is an enterprise security services provider to midsize and large businesses;
• Ocean State Solutions LLC, North Kingstown. Ocean State Solutions is a mobile telephone payment services company;
• Providence Health Solutions LLC, Providence. PHS makes health and wellness software;
• Public Display Inc, Jamestown. Public Display develops calendar-based web applications;
• Tizra Inc., Providence. Tizra makes a software-as-a-service online content management tool.
