STAC to name grantees for $1.5 million in awards

Grants aim to promote collaborative research across universities and local companies

The Rhode Island Science and Technology Advisory Council will announce the recipients of this year's Rhode Island Research Alliance Collaborative Grants at its next meeting, on Friday, Jan. 25...

...The program began in 2006, when the advisory council gave out a similar amount of money to 32 researchers from 15 academic and corporate institutions. The average council grant was $187,500.

Applications for this year's awards were due last September. The meeting to announce the winners begins at 10 a.m. in Room 313 of the State House. Council members also plan to discuss their legislative agenda for the 2008 session..."
