Providence "Innovation and Promise" award finalist for wireless Mesh Network

Computerworld names Providence finalist for state-of-the-art first response communications network

In the "Innovation and Promise" category, the city of Providence is a finalist for Computerworld's 2007 Best Practices in Mobile & Wireless Award.

The Mesh Network system, implemented last Sept. for $2.3 million, gives public safety officials instant secure access to data from headquarters from anywhere in the city.  The system has been featured in various national publications including Computerworld, Governing Magazine, Muni Wireless, and MRT.
