Cox completes EON optical network in R.I.

EON upgraded fiber optic network provides better cable, faster internet

Cox Communications today announced it has competed a multi-million dollar expansion of its fiber-optic-based broadband network in Rhode Island [after 13 months of work].

The upgraded network makes it possible to offer “100-percent digital picture quality” to its Cox Digital Cable customers across Rhode Island; to continue to add [HDTV] channels...and to expand its movies-on-demand offerings, Cox said.

For Internet customers, the completion of Project EON means Cox can offers speeds of up to 20 Mbps with the “PowerBoost” feature the company introduced in April.
