Design for Learning: RISD Gets a New Type of President

"John Maeda has just returned from several days of what he calls 'summer camp at Harvard,' where he took a crash course in how to be a college president. 'I don't know how to do this job!' he says. 'But I know how to learn! I love to learn!' On Sept. 12, Mr. Maeda will be inaugurated as the 16th president of the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design, founded in 1877 as one of the country's first colleges to offer a combined education in arts and design."
