Hasbro ends suit against Scrabulous founders

Hasbro Inc. (NYSE: HAS) has dropped its lawsuit against the brothers in India who created the word game Scrabulous.

Hasbro has been battling Jayant and Rajat Agarwalla over their online game – distributed by their Calcutta-based IT services company RJ Softwares – which the toymaker contends illegally copies the rules and aesthetics of its classic Scrabble.

But the trademark- and copyright-infringement suit – “Hasbro Inc. v. RJ Softwares,” 1:08-cv-06567, U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York (Manhattan) – was dismissed by Hasbro in papers filed Friday in the U.S. District Court in Manhattan, according to Bloomberg News. The company gave no reason for ending its battle with the brothers.
