Gov. Donald L. Carcieri is forming an advisory panel that will review the inner workings of the R.I. Economic Development Corporation and recommend ways to improve the agency.

Carcieri said the committee will be led by Al Verrecchia, chairman at Hasbro Inc. and a former president and CEO of the toymaker. He was named chairman of the panel in an announcement by the governor’s office this afternoon.

Other panel members include Ed Cooney, vice president and treasurer of Nortek and chairman of the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce; Paul Choquette, chairman of Gilbane Inc.; George Nee, secretary-treasurer of the Rhode Island AFL-CIO; and Stephen Lane, co-founder and CEO of Item Group.
