RI Nexus spreads tech-potential word on campus

James Lamb had just finished his associate’s degree at the New England Institute of Technology (NEIT) last year when the school’s director of career services told him to visit RINexus.com.

Lamb, a West Warwick resident who was working as a bartender at the time, had never heard of RI Nexus, a R.I. Economic Development Corporation program aimed at building a community around the state’s growing information technology and digital-media sector.

After scanning the site’s list of internships, Lamb sent his résumé to Vector Software, a Kingstown-based company. Vector brought Lamb on for a three-month internship, and eventually hired him full time. Lamb works there during the day, and at night he is finishing his bachelor’s degree at NEIT.
