Laplink Software Inc. has turned to Warwick R.I.'s OmniCom Technologies Inc. to expand the functionality of its remote PC access platform through a cooperative development agreement. Financial terms of the partnership were not disclosed.

Laplink's original product provided remote access for PC users but was only compatible with XP Pro and Server 2000/2003 OSes.  OmniCom helped extend the product to include support for XP Home, Windows ME and Windows 98.

Laplink turned to OmniCom, despite a close relationship with Microsoft, in the interest of speed and cost efficiency.
