KVH service expands to Pacific Ocean

KVH Industries Inc. has announced the successful launch of its mini-VSAT satellite broadband service for areas over the Pacific Ocean.

The mini-VSAT service makes broadband Internet and telephone service available to vessels and jets crossing the Pacific Ocean. The new coverage area includes Alaska, the west coasts of the United States and Canada, and Hawaii. It also extends into Asia.

KVH and the service provider ViaSat are partnering in the service, which is compatible with KVH’s TracPhone V7 antenna and offers download speeds of up to 2 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 512 Kbps.
