Ryan Whalen, a senior at Providence College, a friend named Alexander Heffner and others from colleges across the country have developed Scoop44.com, a Web site that provides a platform for young journalists covering national politics and the Obama administration.

“We believe young journalists are most fit to reveal the new political, cultural and societal phenomena of 2009, offering insight into underreported, even unexplored, territory,” Whalen said. “With young people’s participation rising to unprecedented levels this election cycle, Scoop44 is currently poised to follow this rising generation and usher in a new age of political reporting for readers young and old, inside and outside of the beltway.”
