Mobile communications manufacturer KVH Industries Inc. said this week it has built 25,000 fiber-optic gyros and doubled the size of the Illinois facility where it designs and manufactures the devices.

Annual sales of KVH’s fiber-optic gyros (FOGs), which assist with navigation, have increased 70 percent in each of the last two quarters, the company said. In 2008, KVH doubled the floor space at its Tinley Park, Ill., FOG factory and increased its staffing 50 percent.
