Full Story: Hackers Attack Vulnerability in Microsoft Video ActiveX Control Source: Providence Business News, July 9th, 2009 Added on July 13th, 2009 at 9:06 am, by Matt MikulaAnanke IT Solutions warns of a computer security vulnerability which could potentially infect millions of computers worldwide. The Microsoft Video ActiveX control vulnerability does not have a ‘patch’ or software fix ready to fix the issue yet. Because this vulnerability is being actively exploited by hackers, Microsoft took the rare step of alerting customers and providing a temporary “workaround” to address this problem.
The vulnerability disclosed Monday affects Internet Explorer users whose computers run the Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 operating software. It can allow hackers to remotely take control of victims' machines. The victims don't need to do anything to get infected except visit a Web site that's been hacked.
