Gov. Donald L. Carcieri’s office announced last week that more than 590,000 online transactions were completed via the state Web site, RI.gov, during the state fiscal year that ended June 30.

The total number of completed transactions equaled approximately one exchange for every two Rhode Islanders.

According to the governor’s office, online services saved approximately 500,000 sheets of paper and thousands of trips that would have been made to state government offices.
