APC parent NI drops 59% in ’09 first half

Despite the global economic slowdown, Schneider Electric, parent of West Kingston-based APC by Schneider Electric, claimed a 7.6 percent gain in free cash flow for the first six months of 2009, even as net income fell 59.3 percent to 346 million euros, or 1.43 euros per share.

The maker of electrical distribution, automation and control, and critical power and cooling equipment and systems noted in its recent report on the first half of the year that revenue fell 17.9 percent to 7.76 billion euros (removing the effects of currency exchange rate movement, revenue fell 13.3 percent in the period).
