Hasbro Inc. on Monday said its third-quarter profit rose 8.8 percent, beating Wall Street expectations, thanks to cost-cutting and sales of toys tied to the hit summer films “Transformers” and “G.I. Joe.”

Hasbro posted earnings of $150.4 million, or 99 cents a share, in the three months ended Sept. 30, up from $138.2 million, or 89 cents a share, in the same period a year earlier. Revenue slipped 2 percent to $1.28 billion.
