A selection committee has settled on a candidate to take over as director of the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation, filling a year-long vacancy at a critical time for the state’s economy.

But a spokeswoman for Governor Carcieri says the administration will not formally offer the job to one of two out-of-state finalists, or identify the person, until compensation and contract issues can be negotiated.
