An elevator ride could be just long enough to pitch a business idea to a potential backer, assuming you can detail the project in fewer than 90 seconds before the possible investor steps off.

To help polish “the pitch,” the Rhode Island Business Plan Competition will host the fourth annual Rhode Island Elevator Pitch Contest on Dec. 8. Up to 30 participants will have a minute and a half to present their business idea to a panel of judges at the Rhode Island Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship in Providence. Participation is free and the event is open to the public.
