$70K in tax breaks lands promises of 200 new jobs

Sometimes, the incentives don’t have to be big to help persuade a company either to move here or to stay in Rhode Island.

That was the case last month when the R.I. Economic Development Corporation approved about $70,000 in tax breaks for two manufacturers and a software company that said they plan to create a combined 200 jobs over the next three years...

...InQuest Technologies Inc. is already located in Providence, but economic-development officials want to make sure it stays that way.

A Providence software developer that moved here from Massachusetts in 2008 with about 20 employees, InQuest has been given what amounts to $6,700 in corporate tax cuts over three years under the state’s Job Development Act, after the company said it would create 76 higher-paying jobs between now and 2012.
