Slater Fund invests $2M in ’09

The Slater Technology Fund, a state-backed venture capital organization, said it completed or approved $2.1 million in direct investments during its 2009 fiscal year, which ended on June 30.

The funding commitments were made to eight technology companies based in Rhode Island, half of which were receiving their first investments from the Slater Fund.

Slater’s two largest investments were $500,000 each in Cytosolv Inc. and RxVantage Inc., both of which had not received funding from the organization before. The other two new recipients were Dynadec (Dynamic Decision Technologies Inc.) and Sentient Bioscience (Sentient Technology Inc.), both of which got $250,000.
