The Governor’s Workforce Board of Rhode Island has awarded a $366,000 grant to Betaspring LLC, a Providence-based program designed to help entrepreneurs launch companies in the state.
Allan Tear, one of Betaspring’s three managing partners, said Betaspring offers a 12-week “boot camp” for people with ideas for new companies, generally in the technology or design fields. The other two Betaspring partners are Jack Templin and Owen Johnson.
Tear said Betaspring, which calls itself a “start-up accelerator,” links budding entrepreneurs with volunteer mentors, who offer advice on developing a business plan, raising money, assembling a team and finding corporate partners.
