About Me
I am involved in many different arts organizations and for the past five years worked from one and half desks at the Steel Yard communal office space in Providence, housing two of them. PR is my study background and consultancy. Arts advocacy is my passion. And artist space, along with the preservation of Providence's character through the use of space inside the mills, refined my passion. PCIS is the result.

Hi all - Would love to see some of you at this discussion. Wonder too... I think of the info-tech/digital media community as part of the 'creative sector'. You?

Please join us for a Conversation with U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and other guests on the addition of $50 Million to the National Endowment for the Arts in the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act.
Friday, March 20, 2009 10am - 11:30 am
The Steel Yard, 27 Sims Ave, Providence
As the implementation of the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009 begins, Senator Whitehouse will discuss the stimulus' impact on the local creative sector. A member of the National Council on the Arts, he will share his perspective on what the NEA inclusion in the Recovery package means to the arts sector nationwide, and how this can support efforts locally to sustain the arts in Rhode Island.
Adding to the discussion: Rhode Island Citizens for the Arts will release “Sustaining the Arts in Rhode Island: A 5-Year Strategy” a visionary plan and policy agenda developed over the past year, representing the collective thoughts of the RI arts community, business and civic leaders, education officials and legislators.
Please RSVP to this event by emailing info@ri4arts.org

Friends -
In working towards building support for the arts community in RI through RI Citizens for the Arts, I wonder if you can give me some feedback, either online here or offline: lisa@lisacarnevale.org.
Can you tell me whether the creative environment of our state, be it through accessible theatre, arts exhibits, education (RISD) or access to community, is important to you? Why have you chosen to set up shop here in RI? Is the creative community any part in that decision?
I consider y'all part of the creative community - so maybe the questions are oddly posed. For businesses not close to creative, availability to these things have been said to be important in attracting them to our state. I am basically hoping to qualify our "quality of life" and "creative economy" arguments with antidoctal comments.
Thanks!

Great! Thank you! And for those of you further interested - the timing for my question has to do with the arts facing legislative cuts in current year FY08 and FY09 budgets. Of course, we are not alone, and understand the fiscal challenge the State faces. Though, we have also been attacked on other fronts - including the Public Art law. In essence - we're shoring up our resources in making the case to secure a supported future.
I placed this Letter to the Editor this week: http://www.pbn.com/stories/29684.html
aktear - sure let's merge the conversations. it seems natural if we have some interested folks willing to explore the ideas fully. i want to put out there as well - i manage the Conley's Wharf building at 200 Allens Avenue and have a space on the 2nd floor that I have been visioning as a shared work/co-work space for some time. i'm interested in the conversation in terms of what interests people most in the utilization of this type of space. it's likely i will be making the space a reality in the beginning of the year. would be great to talk with people who want to check it out. also happy to host at the building. we have a baker on the 1st floor that always has great sweets and coffee brewing...
Hi -
I was inspired by what I had heard earlier today at the RI NEXUS/RIEDC event. Would anyone like to meet offline to discuss how we can experiment more with these ideas?
