About Me

I'm late to software development having gotten here by way of the Professional Audio industry, but somehow I always knew I would end up here. I'm proud to live in Providence and I look forward to it's continuing growth as a technological, artistic, and culinary gem. If you're new in town drop me a line and I'll give you a tour of some of the highlights.

Here the listing. I don't know all of them so I'm not sure if they are ITDM but I know at least a few of them are (note some frequent contributers to RINEXUS).

Congrats!

Jack thanks for the link. I hope I'm not breaking any rules with the following...

I have a hard time believing those plan prices. They are VERY high unless they include the $30 3G data plan, which they seem to indicate are NOT included. The old iPhone plans were fairly competitive.

FTA: AT&T Nation 900: Includes 900 Anytime Minutes, unlimited Night & Weekend Minutes and additional minutes priced at $.40, $89.99 per month

From ATT.com: the "Nation 900 w/Rollover® Minutes" plan costs $59.99 (includes unlimited nights and weekends and additional minutes @ $0.4)

The delta is quite a preimum to pay for visual voicemail (which I really like but not to the tune of $30/month). What else is included?

I’m not using GIT but I have to admit I’m intrigued by the hype.  It is a different paradigm which when discussed among my coworkers tends to make folks nervous.  Sorry for not helping, but I’ll be curious to know how things work out for you.

On the other hand, if anyone knows the secret to gracefully controlling 17 disparate products based loosely on a 500K LOC baseline let me know.

I'd like to be done with my windows mobile phones but I have a few more months on my contract.  That is probably a good thing; it will slow me down a little so I can see how well all of you instant adopters are doing with your iPhones.  1st gen always makes me a little nervous.  Although I can’t wait to try out the new SDK…

I have always enjoyed Spain of Narragansett and a few others.  Don't get me wrong, I love a good restaurant but even down in Peace Dale things aren't so bad.  I have to travel 40 minutes from Providence just to get to the Mews Tavern...

Hi Shane,

Are you able to make use of Google's "My Location" tool on phones which don't have GPS (like my Tmobile MDA)?

Source: Creative Environment - Important? (Forum) Submitted: February 13th, 2008 - 5:01pm link
Speaking from the point of view of someone who likes the arts but who isn't all that artistic: the creative environment in Providence is a major reason my wife and I choose to live here.

I also see it rotate clockwise.  There was one time when I looked away and back again when I saw it rotate counter-clockwise for about 6 rotations but then it switched back to clockwise.  Now it's all clockwise all of the time.

My wife on the other hand sees it move counter clockwise and can't imagine it any other way.  It was fun having 2 people looking a the same thing and dissagreeing about something so seemingly simple.  Ah perception of reality, does anyone really get it right>

This was a great event.  I had been planning to attend for quite a while but I purposely avoided learning anything about the event so I would be able to enjoy maximum surprise.  I was very happy to learn this was a national event.  Teams were from Providence (of course), New England, Canada, the mid-west, and lots of other places.  I think team who traveled farthest came from Los Angeles.

There were something like 57 teams and I'm happy to say that the winning team was "The Good the Bad and the Nerdy"  They ran the Numerator 2.0 (a rolling calculator) at a max speed of 42 miles per hour and were by far the fastest team.  They also had a great skit and never broke character.  They were from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.

Team score = vehicle creativity + launch skit performance + time to finish the course

I would love to see the event come back in future years.

By the way; the parachutists were very cool but crazy.  They greatly accelerated thier rate of descent to do high speed maneuvers between RISDI buildings, smoke stacks and trees before landing at the intersection of Waterman and N. Main

I spend most of my time developing desktop applications in Java.  At the moment I'm getting to know the GIS world a little better since the programs I work on use georeferenced data.  It's fun seeing the cool stuff that's being done with the presentation of location specific data.
