Title: Recommendations for website template sites? (Forum)

I have a bunch of small personal projects that I'd like to look better.  I've looked at some online template websites, but they seem to be a dime a dozen, and most seems like rebrands or knockoffs of each other.  Also, most of the designs look very generic, and the 10k designs are really 5 different color variations of each design.

Does anyone have recommendations for high-quality template websites?  I'm not looking for rock bottom prices, and I know I'm not getting custom-design quality, but I figure there has to be something better out there than what I've seen.

Thanks!

Title: Your favorite database web-backend? (Forum)

I figure there's enough web developers on here to have some interesting recommendations and anecdotes.  Anyone have a favorite database for a web-backend?  Any that you despise?  Any fun experiences worth mentioning?

I've used a bunch of the old standards in my time (SQL Server, MySQL,PostgreSQL, SQLite, etc) and I'm wondering what everyone else uses.

How about Firebird?  Interbase?  Lesser known DB's?

You can get a good quad-core desktop for around $400-500.  Most recent deal I've seen:

HP Refurbs at their outlet... they have Core i7's for as low as $486, like this one:

HP Pavilion Elite e9150t VHP-64 i7 920 2.6GHz 750GB SATA 6GB DDR3 1333 DVDRW(LS) NIC 15-in-1 512MB Rmkt PC

Here's where I see a lot of my deals:

I wouldn't spend more than $600, and I'd aim probably more around $400.  Then spend $200 on a nice 24" LCD, and you're set.  I wouldn't recommend Dell, they have some terrible tech. support and reliability issues.  Good luck.

I pass by there all the time, I'll have to go check it out.  I know that place just to the east, always has cars parked out front.  Never noticed Java Madness.

And those Java Madness people should get a google map on their site.  Having to retype an address from a gif?  Old school! :)
